The five-day campaign to inoculate nearly 1 million children in seven tehsils of the Rawalpindi district has been extended by two more days.
According to sources, the drive that was to end on Friday (today) will now culminate on 22, 2023.
They also said 75 per cent of the total target has already been achieved in the first four days of the campaign. On Thursday, the fourth day of the campaign, the country head of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation visited the high-risk union councils to review the polio vaccination campaign for children.
The high official expressed satisfaction over the performance of teams undertaking the anti-polio campaign.
In connection with polio, 36 high-risk union councils are also involved in the anti-polio campaign, the sources said.
In 188 union councils of seven tehsils, children up to five years of age are being administered polio vaccines.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation country head along with District Health Authority (DHA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Ansar Ishaq visited the union councils of Habib Colony and Fauji Colony and inspected the areas.
