LAHORE:

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has prepared its response to be submitted to the Lahore High Court, saying that it is legally authorised to place the names of people on the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL) for 30 days during inquiry.

Sources told The Express Tribune that the agency had prepared its response on the matter of placing Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Moonis Elahi’s wife’s name on the PNIL.

They said that the agency was arguing that other people had been named in the inquiry as well. Besides, they added, suspicious transactions were found in the bank accounts of the suspects.

The LHC had asked the FIA to submit its answer regarding the matter on Monday (January 16).

The high court’s direction came on the request of the PML-Q leader’s wife.
