Provincial secretary vows to address doctors’ shortage

Punjab Health Secretary Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi has said that the provincial authorities are trying to overcome the shortage of doctors in the government hospitals.

The provincial secretary conducted a surprise visit to the Mayo Hospital and reviewed the medical facilities and cleanliness. He visited the emergency ward, operation theatres and other departments in the hospital.

Punjab Specialised Healthcare Operations Special Secretary Shoaib Jadoon accompanied him during the visit.

Administration officials of Mayo Hospital informed the provincial secretary in detail about the medical facilities provided to the patients. Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi said on the occasion that the medical facilities were being reviewed by visiting various government teaching hospitals in Punjab. Providing medical facilities to patients in the hospitals is among the top priorities of the provincial government.

He said 23 big government hospitals were being built in Punjab. All kinds of medicines are available for the patients in the government hospitals of Punjab.

He said the department would not tolerate negligence in the treatment of patients in any government hospital. He underscored that the government hospitals were run with taxes collected from the people.
