I don’t have a Twitter account: Sana Javed asks fans to report fake account

Last year, Saba Qamar and Hadiqa Kiani also fell prey to impersonation online

After actors Hadiqa Kiani and Saba Qamar Zaman, Sana Javed became victim of impersonation on Twitter. The Khaani actor posted a screenshot of the fake account to clarify that she does not use the bird app and that any tweet from that account should not be considered as her opinion.

On Friday, Javed took to Instagram with a picture of the fake account using her name and picture. Asking her fans to report it, she captioned the post, “This is a fake account! Please report it on Twitter.”

The Dunk actor further urged the media to consult her before taking anything from Twitter. “It’s a request to all media outlets to verify news regarding me before posting them on their websites since I’m not on Twitter.”

According to the screenshot, the person running Javed’s fake account had been active on the micro-blogging app since 2016 and already had over 39k followers.

Celebrities usually don’t mind fan accounts and even appreciate them but users should not take advantage of their name and fandom to find an audience for their malign thoughts. Last year, Kiani had to clarify the same while stating that all her accounts are verified with a blue tick mark and any other account using her name is fake.

Another user did the same using Qamar’s name and purchased a verified account against it. The Kamli actor then posted a screenshot of her actual account to clarify that the impersonated one is a fake one and people should not fall for the blue tick. “This is my official Twitter handle so these small unknown pages should stop spreading fake information for the sake of being in the limelight,” she wrote.
