School registration suspended for violating fee rules

Administration of the private educational institution said that its owners were outside the country

KARACHI:

The Directorate of Inspection & Registration of Private Institutions Sindh (DIRPIS) has suspended the registration of Shaheen Public School for increasing its tuition fees without obtaining the necessary government approval.

According to the details, a citizen named Syed Asif Hussain had complained against the administration of Shaheen Public School (Gulshan Iqbal Campus) for violating the Sindh Educational Institutions Rules 2005 and charging excessive fees from the students without getting its revised fee structure approved by the directorate.

The additional director of registration sought response several times but its letters were ignored by the school management and no one appeared in the directorate.

The administration of the private educational institution had said that its owners were outside the country. The school management was allowed time and was directed to come from abroad and submit a report on December 20, 2022. However, the school administration failed in that too.

DIRPIS had asked the school management to submit a record of 10 per cent scholarship given by the school to the needy students, but the school yet again gave no response.

The directorate directed the school to refund the excess amount to the students or adjust the amount in their tuition fees in the future, but still no remedial action was taken.

The additional director also issued show cause notices to the school several times. Owing to unresponsive attitude and neglect, DIRPIS exercising its authority and legal powers suspended the registration of the school.
