KARACHI:

The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rahman has given an ultimatum of 24 hours to the Sindh government and warned that if the letters sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) requesting the postponement of local body elections in Karachi are not withdrawn within 24 hours, then the JI workers, leaders and supporters will stage a sit-in outside the Chief Minister House.

Addressing a press conference at JI’s Noor-ul-Haq Institute, Rahman said that there is no constitutional, legal and democratic justification for postponing the elections. He said that Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) is now manipulating and conspiring against local body elections along with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), only to destroy Sindh once again.

He said that Sindh has a governor with criminal records. Ever since Kamran Tessori became the governor, the conspiracies have increased.
