IUB declared first hepatitis-free varsity of province

Punjab Governor Muhmmad Balighur Rehman has praised Vice Chancellor Dr Athar Mahboob for making the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) the first hepatitis-free university of the province.

He issued directives to all the universities of Punjab to take necessary steps to become hepatitis-free by following the successful model of the Islamia University.

The Islamia University initiated large-scale hepatitis testing, screening and vaccination in 2020 with the support of the Punjab health department.

Initially, 22,000 faculty, employees and students of the university were tested and vaccination was started.

It is now the only university in Punjab that is hepatitis-free.
