At least three dead in Nowshera building collapse

Rescue 1122 Nowshera's fire, medical and disaster relief teams pulled out citizens from the debris

NOWSHERA:

At least three people, including a newborn girl, were killed and four others injured after a residential building collapsed on Thursday due to gas cylinder explosion in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s (K-P) Nowshera city.

According to Express News, a cylinder blast took place in a residential house in Pabbi Wapda Colony, E Sector of Nowshera.

Teams of Rescue 1122 reached the spot soon after the incident and started rescue operations as several people were trapped in the building's debris.

The rescue agency later announced the completion of the rescue operation to find bodies in the debris.

According to Rescue 1122, three bodies and four injured were taken out of the debris and were transferred to the hospital.

The deceased include Wajid, 30, his wife, and a newborn baby girl, while the injured include Niaz Bibi aged 50 years, Zubair aged 33 years, Nimra aged 9 years and Mustafa aged 5 years.

Earlier, four people, including a couple, had suffered severe burn injuries when a gas cylinder removed from a rickshaw exploded during cooking in a house in Jaranwala.

The victims were trying to use the cylinder for cooking because of gas shortage in their area.

They were shifted to the Ghulam Mohammadabad General Hospital for treatment.

The incident took place near Narrwala Road. A rickshaw driver, Muzaffar Iqbal, aged 40, had removed the cylinder from his vehicle for cooking because of the unavailability of gas supply.
