Four people, including a couple, suffered severe burn injuries when a gas cylinder removed from a rickshaw exploded during cooking in a house in Sultan Town on Friday.
The victims were trying to use the cylinder for cooking because of gas shortage in their area.
They were shifted to the Ghulam Mohammadabad General Hospital for treatment.
The incident took place near Narrwala Road. A rickshaw driver, Muzaffar Iqbal, aged 40, had removed the cylinder from his vehicle for cooking because of unavailability of gas supply.
The family started to cook a meal after placing the cylinder in the kitchen of their home but it exploded.
Due to the explosion, Muzaffar, his wife Shazia, 33, 11 year-old Abdul Hannan and Haleem Bibi, aged 60, were severely burnt.
Rescue teams shifted them to the hospital.
According to doctors at the hospital’s burns unit, Shazia suffered 35 per cent burns, Muzaffar 25%, Haleema 20% and Abdul Hannan 10%.
