The bodies of a father, son, and nephew who were kidnapped a day earlier were found in South Waziristan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Saturday.
According to the police, the bodies of Maulvi Noor Zaman, his son and his nephew were found in the Manra area of Birmil Tehsil. These bodies were spotted by local residents who then informed local police which took the bodies in possession and shifted them to local police station.
Police said an investigation into the incident has started, adding that the kidnapping and murder was committed by unknown persons. Incidents of extortion, terrorism, and targeted attacks have been on the rise in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) ever since the Taliban took control of Kabul last year in August.
K-P police have established 18 check posts on hilltops to prevent the movement of terrorists, according to an annual performance report.
They have also arrested 806 terrorists including 90 with head money on their arrest while 196 were shot dead in encounters in 2022, said the report. Talking to journalists, Additional IGP Muhammad Ali Baba Khel said that it was true that there was an increase in extortion cases but the police had launched a full crackdown against extortionists.
He said that due to timely action on the part of police several terrorism bids had been foiled and several terrorist rings had been busted.
