ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari on Saturday stressed the need to implement the economic vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to make the country self-reliant.

Addressing a ceremony celebrating Jinnah’s 146th birthday, Bakhtawari said, “The economy of Pakistan is in dire straits and implementing Quaid-e-Azam’s economic vision is vital to making the country self-reliant and a welfare state.”

“From the very beginning, Quaid stressed the need to develop a strong industrial base along with promoting agriculture and other sectors to reduce Pakistan’s dependence on others,” said the ICCI president, adding that, “Jinnah had termed commerce and trade to be the life-blood of the economy and emphasised that the nation should work with honesty and integrity to make Pakistan a hallmark of good standards and quality in the world markets.”

The Vice President of ICCI, Muhammad Azharul Islam added that, “The government should establish a network of vocational and technical training institutes across the country to produce skilled manpower that can help the country achieve sustainable economic growth.”
