Surprising results of intermediate board exams have come out which show all the students of 38 colleges and higher secondary schools have failed. These results portray the education system in Sindh has reached a total destruction.
The Intermediate Board Karachi has released the list of colleges according to which not a single student in 38 colleges could pass the exam.
Not a single student from the Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering and General Science groups could succeed in the inter-board examinations.
All the students of 25 government colleges and 13 private colleges have failed.
Performance details of all colleges have also been released by Karachi Intermediate Board.
The board also wrote a letter to Secretary Colleges Education Ahmed Bakhsh Nareju regarding the performance of the institutions.
In this regard, Inter Board Karachi Chairman Dr. Saeeduddin in a conversation with The Express Tribune denied that the registration of any college has been suspended, but he emphasised that these colleges will be warned and the relevant persons will be interrogated in this regard.
He further said that the colleges have been directed through letter to improve the quality of education.
In this regard, Director Colleges Dr. Muhammad Ali Manjhi while talking to The Express Tribune said that higher secondary schools are also included in the released list. All debris should not be dumped on colleges onlly.
He said, comparatively the number of students in the science group is less than the number of students in other groups, so the passing ratio of science group students is also low.
He said that, we will try to ensure the attendance of students and teachers in the schools and colleges.
Besides this, recruitment of subject specialists will be made to improve the quality of education, he added.
Meanwhile, according to the education experts, the massive failure of students in intermediate exams can be attributed to the Covid pandemic.
In 2020 during lockdown students were promoted without sitting in exams. Moreover, in 2021 the matric and intermediate students were required to appear in optional subjects only and declared pass in compulsory subjects like Urdu, English, Islamiat, and Pakistan Studies.
Year 2022 saw the students who passed in 2020, known as ‘Covid pass’ faced real exams that could be one of the reasons for a high number of failures.
