IHC to observe winter vacations from today

Some judges to remain available to hear 'emergency' court hearings

The regular judicial work at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) will come to a pause as winter holidays are scheduled to commence today (Monday).

However, according to court sources, some judges will be available to hear cases of urgent nature during the winter vacations

As per the roster for the week, three judges will go on winter vacations. The roster has been issued by the registrar's office following the orders of IHC Chief Justice, Justice Aamer Farooq.

Five single and two division benches will be available for the week, starting from December 26 through December 30, it stated.

The registrar’s office further said a bench consisting of Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan will be available for the next week. A two-member bench comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir will also hear cases during the holidays.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb will hear the cases in a single bench, the roster read. A single bench consisting of Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan and Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir will be available during vacations.

A special division bench or a larger bench will also be available for hearing on the directions of the chief justice, it said.
