Modified trucks wreak havoc in Sargodha

121 people crushed to death in one year

SARGODHA:

As many as 121 people were crushed to death by dumpers, mostly altered and modified locally, during much of 2022 in Sargodha division.

Traffic education In-charge Muhammad Sajed Mehmood briefed the media on Thursday that a survey revealed that dump trucks are being altered, modified and manufactured in the city and its suburban areas. Local mechanics are modifying the vehicles without adopting prescribed procedures or using proper machinery, in violation of rules and regulations.

He said that the trucks were being manufactured with simple iron sheets and iron girders in different areas of the city, including Pull-111, Azam Market, General Bus Stand and other places.
