KARACHI:

A delegation of US lawmakers led by the Member Texas House of Representatives Jacey Jetton visited the nationalist leaders in Hyderabad and exchanged views on social and political issues.

The delegation held meetings with Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party Chairman Dr Qadir Magsi, Qomi Awami Tehreek President Ayaz Latif Palijo and Jeay Sindh Mahaz Chairman Riaz Chandio.

"The democratic countries should play a part in entrenching real democracy in Pakistan," said Dr Magsi. He also urged the US to take up the issue of human rights violations in the country.

Referring to the recent rain triggered calamity which displaced millions of people, he demanded that the foreign donors should conduct an audit of the relief goods which were meant to be delivered to the affected people. Chandio said the people of Sindh are peace loving people and he referred to the region's history claiming that Sindhis never went out of their motherland to invade and occupy other nations.

He said as being among the pioneers of human rights and freedom, the US has a responsibility to those people who live in the countries which are being held hostage under the colonial system. Chandio said there are many countries which neither have democracy nor justice and that despite being governed under a constitutional system, human rights are violated with impunity.
