ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Hussain Chaudhry has said that they are getting recommendations from different places that they should not push for elections, adding that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and allies should fight “instead of running away”.

Talking to the media at Zaman Park, he said that the PML-N should not use the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) as its “partner”. It is written in the constitution that the elections should be held within the stipulated time, he added.

Fawad said that for the last eight months, the politics of Pakistan has been revolving around PTI chief Imran Khan.

“Imran Khan bowls the first over in the morning, [and] after that PDM continues to rotate with the same ball. We have played the political test match as a T20,” he remarked.

He said that PDM did not see the ball that Imran hit on Saturday.

“PML-N and other parties should not run away and should compete. We are receiving recommendations from different places that ‘you should not hold elections’,” he added.

The PTI leader said that if the National Assembly (NA) is not dissolved, the PML-N will not get candidates in the next election.

The former federal minister said that to avoid elections, they “bring forward the election commission”.

He said that PTI will do the politics of the people. In Pakistan, people's future decisions are made by sitting in closed rooms, but now the powerful have to think if they do not accept the people's decision, the loss will be Pakistan's, he highlighted.

Fawad said that if the government is thinking that people's decisions are not important, then they are wrong. At least 750,000 doctors and engineers have left the country, and investors are not investing in Pakistan, he added.

He said that the speaker suspended the session of the National Assembly due to their resignations, adding that the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) does not even have a candidate.

“Asif Zardari has abolished the People's Party, I demand that the speaker accept our resignations, the National Assembly elections should also be held along with the provincial assemblies,” he remarked.

“People's support decides whether you can govern or not, PDM should not run away from elections now because the field is there and the horse is there,” he further said.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday revealed that the party would dissolve assemblies in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on December 23 (Friday), staking his hard-earned political ground on a bid to trigger early elections.

"We will sacrifice both assemblies... we are sacrificing them for this nation... there will be elections in 66 per cent of Pakistan," Imran announced.
