PML-N moves to nullify Imran's threat of PA dissolution

PML-N has started contacting Assembly Secretariat to submit the motion as it is closed on Saturdays and Sundays

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has reportedly planned to prevent the possible dissolution of Punjab Assembly as party sources revealed on Saturday that it is likely to submit a no-confidence motion against Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and Punjab Assembly Speaker Sibtain Khan.

The PML-N leadership has reportedly given a green signal to submit a motion of no-confidence in the provincial assembly in a bid to prevent the possible dissolution of the provincial assembly by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

As per PML-N sources, the no-confidence motion was signed by party members and they were directed to gather in the office of former provincial education minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan.

The members of the Punjab Assembly are expected to submit the no-confidence motion soon.

The PML-N has started contacting the Assembly Secretariat to submit the motion as the secretariat is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

The move comes as PTI Chairman Imran Khan is expected to announce the future course of action via video link today where he will announce the date of the dissolution of the provincial assemblies of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

The party has reportedly decided to dissolve the Punjab Assembly in the initial phase, while the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in the second phase.

Sources privy to the matter disclosed that the decision about the dissolution of the provincial assemblies and resignations from the National Assembly was made in the meeting chaired by the former prime minister.

Well-placed sources told The Express Tribune that President Arif Alvi filled in the PTI chief on the series of meetings he held with members of the ruling PML-N.

However, the efforts have not yielded "any wins" as both sides signaled their reluctance to concede their respective positions.
