Deputy convener says Muttahida encouraged women to play leading role in organisation

Women have played a leading role in the struggle of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), said the movement's Deputy Convener and former Mayor of Karachi Waseem Akhtar along with Deputy Convenors Nasreen Jalil and Abdul Waseem at a press conference at the party's center in Bahadurabad.

"MQM-P believes that women have an exemplary role in the society. Daily life, families, political organisations, government institutions and Parliament are incomplete without women," Akhtar said flanked by Sikandar Khatun, in-charge of MQM-P women wing.

Muttahida has always encouraged women to play a leading role, he said. MQM-P is going to organize a women's convention on December 18 held in Nishtar Park will be historic.

He further said that Karachi is the biggest city and economic lifeline of Pakistan. Karachi has always given its mandate to MQM-P. Women have always played an important role in the organisation's struggle. He said that the women of Karachi will make the convention successful and like the past, the convention will also be exemplary. He said that MQM-P has been in the habit of breaking its own records.
