Medical report confirmed sexual abuse; case registered against accused at Mominabad police station

KARACHI:

Police have arrested a man on charges of molesting an eight-year-old boy in Tauheed Colony within the limits of Mominabad police station on Saturday. In other incidents, police have arrested eight muggers after gunfights in different areas of the city.

Afzaal, son of Abbas, is accused of sexually abusing the eight-year-old on Friday. A medical report confirmed sexual abuse and subsequently a case was registered against the accused at Mominabad police station. Police are investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, two muggers were injured in an exchange of fire with police in the SITE area, near Superhighway, in the jurisdiction of Industrial Area police station. Two 30-bore pistols, mobile phones, wallets, and other valuables were recovered from their possession, according to police. The suspected muggers have been identified as Zahid Hussain and Rizwan. They were caught red-handed snatching valuables from people near A-One Hotel in Scheme 33, Phase-1.

Seeing the police party, they opened fire. In the retaliatory fire, both the robbers were injured and then taken into custody. They were transferred to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. A third accomplice of the suspected muggers escaped on a motorcycle.

Separately, Zaman Town police claimed on Saturday that they have arrested two robbers who were injured in fire exchange with them near Korangi Coast Guards Chowrangi. Their third accomplice managed to escape. Police also claimed that they have recovered weapons, stolen mobile phones, and a motorcycle from the suspects.

The arrested robbers, identified as Umar, son of Kamal, and Usman, son of M. Salim. They were shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medical assistance.

In separate incidents, four suspected criminals were arrested by Aziz Bhatti and Korangi Industrial Area police in separate encounters. They have been identified as Abdullah, alias Imran, Ameer Nawab, Babar, and Adnan Ali, alias Goonga.

Police recovered handguns, mobile phones, snatched wallets and motorcycles from the arrested suspects.
