Three killed, as many injured in housing society shooting

CM directs police to submit report as investigation continues

At least three people were killed and as many injured in a firing incident in a private housing society located within the limits Chountra police station.

Taking notice of the incident, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi called for a report from the Rawalpindi Regional Police officer (RPO). The police started an investigation into the incident from all angles including the land dispute.

According to police sources, armed men of the opposition party had demanded to stop the ongoing construction work in the private housing society and upon the contractor’s refusal to halt the construction work, the suspects opened indiscriminate fire and killed three people on the spot.

The deceased include Kaleemullah, Aya Khan and Saeedur Rehman while the injured include Tahir, Noor Ali and Yasir, the sources added.

Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 teams immediately arrived on the spot, provided first aid to the injured and shifted the bodies to District Headquarters Hospital for legal proceedings.
