KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Saturday ordered the parties to submit a written report within 15 days on a petition against illegal constructions in Azam Basti area of Mehmoodabad.

Appearing before a two-judge SHC bench, headed by Justice Nadeem Akhtar, the petitioner’s counsel stated that multi-storey buildings are being constructed illegally on small plots in Azam Busti, while the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), police and others are reluctant to take any action.

When Justice Akhtar asked who was erecting illegal constructions, the petitioner’s counsel submitted that a builder named, Aamir, was constructing a seven-storey building in violation of relevant laws.

The judge enquired if a formal complaint was lodged with the SBCA or any other institutions. The counsel submitted that formal applications were submitted to the SBCA, DC and others, but no action has been taken till date.

The court ordered the SBCA and other parties to submit a written report within 15 days.
