Terrorists continue to stage successful targeted attacks at Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) police as on Friday yet another constable was gunned down in Mardan district.
The attackers as usual managed to escape after carrying out the attack.
Police told The Express Tribune that unidentified miscreants opened fire on Ghundo police post in Baizai area late last night.
As a result, Constable Fazl Haq of elite force was seriously wounded.
He was rushed to the nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The attackers managed to escape, taking full advantage of the darkness of the night.
This is the second attack on K-P police in less than 24 hours as on Thursday a police constable was killed in Charsadda district.
The last rites of the slain policeman were offered at Mardan police lines with full guard of honour.
Later the coffin was sent to the deceased’s ancestral hometown for burial.
Bullet-proof jackets
Inspector General Police (IGP) K-P has ordered all policemen to wear bulletproof jackets during duty and said that a new strategy has been introduced to deal with terrorism.
Presiding over a meeting, IGP ordered all the police officer to brief their subordinates thoroughly about the terrorism situation and all the preventive measures should be taken while on duty including wearing of helmets and bulletproof vests.
He said that if one was found violating these orders, strict action will be taken.
