Poland fast growing market for Pakistan

Trade between two countries crosses €800 million

ISLAMABAD:

Poland Ambassador Maciej Pisarski has said that trade with Pakistan has crossed €800 million and both countries are focusing on exploring more avenues of trade and investment in multiple sectors.

Owing to a preferential trade arrangement with the European Union and the GSP Plus status, Poland had been one of the fastest growing markets for Pakistani products, he added.

The ambassador made those remarks while speaking at Poland’s Independence Day celebrations on Friday.

“Our ambition is not only to increase the volume of trade, but we also want to expand and enrich our trade and economic exchanges to make it a two-way street, where more Polish businesses will run in Pakistan.”

He emphasised that the jewel in the crown of economic cooperation was the contribution of Polish companies, namely Polish Oil and Gas Company (PGNiG) and Exallo Drilling, to strengthening Pakistan’s energy security.

PGNiG has invested more than $300 million in gas extraction projects in Sindh. The company has brought innovative technology and unique know-how to deliver gas to consumers.
