Juvenile cases disposal improves after judges visit Adiala Jail

ISLAMABAD:

After the visit of the former chief justice and judges of the Islamabad High Court to Adiala Jail, there has been an increase in the disposal of regular cases against juveniles in Islamabad.

The committee set up for early disposal of cases of minor accused made history by issuing the first verdict.

The Juvenile Committee, headed by Islamabad Judicial Magistrate Umar Shabbir, ordered disposing of the case against a minor child after the child sought a written apology from the case complainant.

The case was decided against accused Muhammad Shehbaz based on a compromise reached between the parties.

The committee comprised Adil Aziz Qazi Advocate, District Prosecutor Naseem Zia and Dr Sania Hameed Rana.

According to the verdict, during the hearing, complainant Syed Tanzeem Shah appeared before the committee and stated that if the accused apologised in writing, he would have no objection to not pressing the charges.

On the statement of the case complainant, the committee discharged the minor accused, Muhammad Shehbaz, from the case.
