Sheikh Rashid shares video of LA rush hour instead of PTI power show

The Express Tribune found claim Sheikh Rashid’s claim to be false

Former federal minister Sheikh Rashid posted an aerial clip on Twitter claiming to show a gridlock of traffic from his party’s power show held in Rawalpindi on November 26. The video clip had a PTI anthem as its audio which made it appear as if the clip was an aerial shot of the PTI’s march to Rawalpindi.

The tweet (attached below) was posted without a caption and has managed to gain almost forty thousand likes and nine thousand retweets.

However, The Express Tribune found the claim to be false as the visuals actually show a traffic jam from Los Angeles, United States, ahead of Thanksgiving holidays in 2017.

The Express Tribune found Sheikh Rashid’s claim to be false as the shared visuals actually show a traffic build up in Los Angeles, California. This clip was first shared back in 2017 as part of live coverage of US broadcaster ABC News. A screen grab of which can be found below.

Netizens were quick to spot that the Awami Muslim League leader had reposted a Los Angeles traffic jam clip instead of an aerial view of the PTI’S power show.

Social media users successfully debunked Rashid’s claim who mentioned that millions of activists flocked to Rawalpindi’s Murree Road to listen to the address of ousted Pakistani premier Imran Khan.
