A man was deprived of $50,000 in the Boat Basin area of Clifton on Friday.

A citizen, Zulfiqar, had left a bank branch when bandits swooped down on him, snatched the currency and fled.

Police have registered a case against unidentified suspects and started investigations. According to the FIR, Zukfiqar, a resident of Clifton block 5, returned from abroad few days ago.

He found his bank account blocked and demanded his money back. Acting on hi complaint, the bank staff called him to branch on Friday and handed over $49,964 to him.

He took the cash, got into his car and drove towards his home. Just as he was getting out of his car, two suspects on a motorbike intercepted him and snatched the cash packet of dollars, Pakistani currency worth Rs50,000 mobile and other valuables at gun point and escaped.

Police said they have started investigations.
