OKARA:

The blind murder of a businessman in Sher Rabbani Town has finally been solved, with the victim’s brother turning out to be the murderer.

DPO Furqan Bilal said Police Station B Division received information on Saturday that Hafiz Sohail, a businessman in Sher Rabbani Town, was killed by unidentified persons.

Immediately afterwards, the DPO personally arrived at the scene and ordered DSP City Chaudhry Ashraf and police station B Division to investigate the businessman's murder and arrest the killers immediately.

Local police traced the killer using modern forensic techniques and considering motives within 24 hours and arrested the accused.

According to the preliminary investigation of the police, the killer of the deceased Hafiz Sohail turned out to be his elder brother Jonty, who was also reportedly a drug addict and a gambler. For this reason, the family had registered property in the name of Hafiz. Reportedly harbouring a grudge, Jonty planned to kill his brother.

When Hafiz left home, Jonty followed and shot him dead from behind in a deserted street and escaped the scene. Later, he himself became the complainant of his brother's murder before the police.

Suspicion arose and with the help of CCTV footage from the local area, they found that Jonty was following his brother before the murder. When the police detained and interrogated him, Jonty confessed to the crime, telling the police that he had killed his real brother to get the property.

Police are investigating further to find out whether he committed the crime alone or if someone else was involved.

DPO Bilal has congratulated the police station B Division for tracing the blind murder and arresting the main accused in a very short time and announced the certificate for them.
