Abbottabad DHQ gets new ICU
A 20-bedded state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has been established at the Abbottabad District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.
According to the district administration, the new ICU was established utilising resources of the hospital management board, the hospital management committee and local philanthropists.
Officials said the new facility will cater to the needs of low-income patients visiting the hospitals.
The officials also said despite being upgraded as a category B hospital in 2003, the DHQ did not have a proper ICU and only a 10-bedded Coronary Care Unit (CCU) was functional.
The project was started as one of the initiatives under the Nikhra Abbottabad Campaign and was executed by DHQ medical superintendent and district medical officer under the supervision of Abbottabad deputy commissioner Tariq Salam Marwat, they said.
The project was completed at a cost of Rs13.5 million, they added.
