‘Rs1b ready for Sindh flood relief’

CM gives nod to filling 3,000 vacant posts in Punjab Police

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said diseases were spreading in Sindh and censured that people were doing nothing except ‘politics’.

“We have allocated Rs1 billion for flood relief activities in Sindh but unfortunately a survey has yet not been conducted,” the CM remarked. The chief minister expressed these view while resided over the 4th provincial cabinet meeting at his office on Friday.

The provincial cabinet paid tributes to Dr Sania Nishter for accomplishing years of work in only two months along with attaining success in the flood relief programme.

The chief minister, while addressing the cabinet meeting, lauded the efforts and paid tributes to Dr Sania Nishter, SMBR Zahid Zaman Akhter, DG PDMA Faisal Fareed and the whole team.

The provincial cabinet made mandatory on the sugar mills of Punjab to launch crushing from November 25. The provincial cabinet approved the support price of sugarcane at Rs300 per maund.

Approval has also been granted to incorporate Bank of Punjab in the Ehsaas Rashan Riyat Programme.

Rescue 1122 Dr Rizwan Naseer was promoted to Grade 21. The CM appreciated that the Rescue 1122 team provided indiscriminate assistance to the flood-affected people during the flood. The provincial cabinet also granted approval for formulation of regulations for the registration of electric vehicles. It was principally decided to run electric rickshaws in Punjab.

It was also decided that 50% subsidy would be provided to the electric vehicles in respect of taxes.

Approval was granted to induct 3,000 vacant posts in the Punjab Police. Approval was also granted during the cabinet meeting to purchase drones for the police and to disburse Rs350 billion grant for the Bar Association. The contract of Punjab Safe City Authority Chief Operating Officer Kamran Khan was extended for two years.

The cabinet granted approval to appoint the President of LDA Tribunal and to declare Sargodha and Bahawalpur city areas of the development authority concerned.

Amendment were also approved in Punjab Drug Rules, revamping of provincial quality control board, annual report on the State of Women Punjab Commission, audit reports about the accounts of the Punjab government, audits of the accounts of Public Sector Enterprise Government of Punjab.

Rules and regulations for the appointment of chairman Zakat and Usher Council, amendment in the Quaid-i-Azam Library schedule regulation 1984, amendment in the Punjab Public Library general regulation 2012 were also approved.
