Work on restoring Diamer girls’ schools started

ISLAMABAD:

The local administration is engaged in reconstructing the girls’ school which was set on fire by unknown miscreants in the Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

Chief Secretary Mohiuddin Wani said that the renovated building of the burnt school will be ready by Friday.

However, in the meantime, the empty building adjacent to the school headmaster's residence has been immediately converted into a school, he added.

He further said that studies are continuing, and not a single day has been wasted. He added that God-willing, classes will start on Friday in the most beautiful building of the region.

Terrorism ruled out

Meanwhile, the police ruled out terrorism in the case, saying that they were investigating the incident from various angles after taking the security guard into custody.

Following the preliminary investigation, they found that there were indications of this being the work of a single person, rather than a group.

The police also suggested that youngsters, with their “careless behaviour”, might have accidentally ignited the fire after assembling there, adding that Diyar wood that is used in the building’s door catches fire rapidly.

The police also revealed that the security guard’s claim of being taken away by unknown miscreants turned out to be false and no militant group claimed responsibility for the attack either.

They further said that the incident could have been a coincidence or an act stemming from personal vendetta.
