A young bread maker was killed in Liaquatabad at 2am Monday when he woke up and saw thieves creeping around the room where he was sleeping with the staff of the on top of the naan shop.
The suspects took the victim's Rs50,000 cash and cell phone and fled unchallenged.
According to the police, the victim, 20-year-old Amanullah, son of Muhammad Ali, was a native of Quetta.
Aman and his colleagues were all asleep when two robbers entered the room built on the roof of their shop and dragged a bag towards themselves. The bag had more than Rs50,000 in cash and a mobile phone. The robbers were trying to steal other items when suddenly Amanullah woke up and started making noise. One of the robbers opened fire and shot him in the chest, due to which he died on the spot while the robbers escaped with the bag. The deceased's brother, who works at a nearby eatery, also reached the site, but the robbers fled. The doctor confirmed his death when the deceased was taken to the hospital. The police arrived at the location, collected the evidence, and started investigating the matter.
Separately, during a looting incident near Shafiq Mor Shizan Company of Federal B Industrial Area, suspects opened fire, injured a person resisting a robbery, and escaped from the crime scene after looting. Edhi Ambulance shifted the wounded person to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
According to the Karachi Police spokesperson, the injured person was identified as 23-year-old Anwar Zaid, son of Alauddin.
Police are investigating the incident.
