Federal Minister for Power Khurram Dastgir Khan has stressed that green financing should be made accessible to the countries hit by climate change. He made the remarks in a meeting with a delegation of European parliamentarians on Friday. The minister called for creating a separate fund for emergency rehabilitation in the aftermath of a climate catastrophe. He briefed the delegation about the rehabilitation efforts made in flood-hit areas, which led to early restoration of electricity supply in the worst-hit regions. The minister highlighted that climate change was no more a theory but a real disaster. “Despite a minimum share in world pollution, Pakistan had to face the brunt of climate change,” he remarked. The minister apprised the delegation of the government’s solar policy and said every new generation capacity would be based on indigenous resources.
