In the second incident of broad daylight robbery within one week, armed robbers shot dead a security guard and injured another while looting a cash supply van in the garrison city.

The cash van was parked in front of a private bank when the suspects arrived. The police are in touch with a private security company to estimate the amount of the stolen cash.

A police spokesperson said, the cash was being withdrawn from a private cash van within the limits of Naseerabad police station and transferred to the bank and during this time the suspects carried out the robbery.

The accused shot and killed Abdul Waheed, a security guard, for offering resistance, while injuring Umar Zaib, another security guard, by hitting him with a pistol. A spokesperson for Rescue 1122 said that the rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the body and the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital.

The police said that method of the suspects involved in the second incident of cash robbery was the same as the first incident. According to the police investigators, the same gang is involved in both incidents.

A few days ago, a similar incident took place in broad daylight in the Murree Road area of ​​Civil Lines police station, in which the accused managed to make away with Rs30 million from a cash supply van.

Before making good their escape with two cash bags, the accused injured two security guards by shooting one of them in the leg and pistol-whipping another.

The police spokesperson said that CPO Syed Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari has taken notice of the second incident of cash van robbery and has sought a report from SP Potohar Malik Tariq Mehboob.

Upon receiving information about the incident, SSP Operations Waseem Riaz Khan along with a heavy contingent of police personnel reached the spot and inspected the incident site and obtained information from the police officers.
