Four men booked for lynching of two telecom company employees

A total of 14 people have been nominated in the FIR, says SHO

Police have finally arrested four men nominated in the case of brutal lynching of two employees of a telecom company by a mob in Machar Colony while they are conducting raids to apprehend the other accused.

According to Pervaiz Solangi, SHO Docks police station, 42 people have been rounded up over the past two days for questioning.

While sharing further details, he said the two telecom company employees lost their way while checking the signal strength in the area. They pulled up near a child and asked him for help, but some people raised alarm, saying the car occupants were abducting the child.

Soon a mob gathered at the scene. They pulled the two telecom employees, identified as Ishaq Pahnwar and Ayman Javed, from the car and started beating them with anything they could lay their hands on, the SHO said, adding that both of them died on the spot.

Witnesses told police that the mob hit the two men with stones, bricks, and sticks and punched and kicked them, resulting in their death.

SHO Solangi further said that the complainant has nominated 15 suspects in the FIR. "We have arrested four of them, while raids are being conducted to arrest the remaining accused," he added. The arrested accused would be produced in court on Monday.

He added that they have detained 42 people in connection with an investigation into the brutal lynching. He said that with the help of video footage of the incident available on social media they were trying to find out how the lynching took place and identify the culprits.

Meanwhile, police have dismissed rumors about the lynching of two men at the instigation of a mosque administrator in Machhar Colony. SHO Solangi called the reports "baseless and fabricated".

"In fact, the mosque administrator had called the telecom company office to inform them that two of their employees were being lynched by a mob.

The company immediately informed the police, which reached the spot and tried to rescue the two.

However, by the time they were transported to the Civil Hospital they had already died.
