The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has sought an explanation from the Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) over violations it committed during the May 25 public gathering in the federal capital before issuing a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the upcoming gathering.
The ICT administration on Friday issued a written reply to the PTI in response to the latter’s application, seeking permission for holding a public gathering and a sit-in from November 4 on Srinagar Highway (between H-9 and G-9 section) in Islamabad.
“It is stated that section 144 is imposed on all kinds of public gatherings in the federal capital including in and around the red zone. Furthermore, the instant application has been examined at length in the context of previous NoCs/ permissions issued by the undersigned (ICT admin) upon submission of undertakings by you. Whereas, it is imperative to mention here that on numerous occasions, various clauses of terms and conditions were violated by you, ” said the ICT reply.
It said that “keeping in view the past violations of undertakings by the PTI and the past record, please explain (point wise) as to why the party’s instant application may be considered favourably and may not be turned down/ rejected”.
“On May 25, it was decided that you will convene Jalsa at H-9 (in front of the metro depot) in Islamabad but you failed to adhere to the agreement and the protesters moved towards the red zone of Islamabad. For the July 2 public gathering, the NOC was issued by the civil administration upon submission of consent and undertaking by you that being the Organised, you will be responsible for any damage caused to the public property. However, sustainable damage was caused to the public property and liabilities are still pending,” the ICT reply said.
“On June, 30th 2022, you agreed to install CCTV cameras at the venue but you failed to do so, which is a sheer violation of clause 34 of the agreed terms & conditions. During the last gathering, steamers and banners were installed without prior permission of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad which were removed by the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad,” read the ICT reply
