Six acquitted in DSP’s murder

Court released its decision after a hearing in Anti-Terrorism Complex at the Karachi Central Jail

KARACHI:

Special Anti-Terrorism Court acquitted six people on insufficient evidence in the case of the target killing of DSP Nawaz Ranjha and his driver.

Court released its decision on Friday after a hearing in Anti-Terrorism Complex at the Karachi Central Jail.

According to police, DSP Nawaz Ranjha and his gunman, Jahangir were killed in 2010 by armed men. Case of target killing registered in Preedy police station. Policeman Ishtiaq, Shakir Shah, Khwaja M Faisal, Zakir Hussain, Shafiq alias Shaiq Rehman and Irfan were accused in that case.

In past, the Special Court of ATC gave lifetime sentences to Ishtiaq and Irfan. However, the suspects filed an appeal and the Sindh High Court ordered them to hear the case again. After the order of the high court, ATC hear the case again and acquitted all the suspects after detailed arguments.
