Mahira lost 'Mere Paas Tum Ho' and 'London Nahi Jaunga' as punishment: Khalilur Rehman

Writer spills the beans on feud with star post her sided with Marvi Samad in 2020

Entertainment Desk October 28, 2022

Renowned writer and controversial figure Khalilur Rehman Qamar is known to make headlines for his misogynistic remarks against women. After forgiving Mahira Khan for supporting Marvi Sirmed against his crass behaviour earilier, the Man Jali writer has now retracted his forgiveness during a podcast with YouTuber Nadir Ali.

While discussing "big names" that have spoken out against him, Nadir brought up Khan's viral tweets against the Sadqay Tumhare writer. Qamar admitted that he still harbours negative feelings for the actor. He said, "I will eventually forgive Mahira for working on a project based on my life. I have nothing but respect for her, yet she committed a mistake during the infamous Marvi incident. She tweeted in her favour and openly opposed my views."

He further called Khan's doing a “grave mistake”, suggesting that it cost her big roles. "By doing so, Mahira lost Mere Paas Tum Ho and London Nahi Jaunga as a punishment. Otherwise, she was my first choice for my future ventures. If not Mere Paas Tum Ho, I would have cast her in London Nahi Jaunga," he assured.

The Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai writer also claimed that he always had a “respectful relationship” with Khan prior to the Sirmed fiasco. He alleged that the Humsafar star has since tried to seek his forgiveness multiple times too through Humayun Saeed and Nadeem Baig because she faced a “terrible loss.”

He concluded the conversation by saying, “No one can patch us up. One day when I'll decide to forgive her, I will talk to her myself."

In 2020, Khan had shared a tweet against Qamar during a heated discussion on a talk show between the author and Sirmed. She had asked, “This same man who abused a woman on television is revered and given project after project. Because of what?”

In response to this, Qamar issued an enraged message online. He said, "I'll always curse on myself for the sin I committed by casting her [Khan] in a very sacred role in Sadqay Tumhare."

In August, during an appearance on Ahmed Ali Butt’s talkshow, Qamar publically forgave Khan but maintained that he is still angry at her tweet. He said, “I have forgiven her but will never forget the language she used against me on a social media platform.”

In June 2022, Khan also admitted on a podcast with Mooro that this feud with Qamar has brought her a huge loss. She expressed, “I said what I said. I took a stance because what he said was not right. But, it also meant that I lost a lot of work.”

She then added "it doesn't matter" and shed light on why she took Humsafar as a project with Qamar, “I did Humsafrar because it sounded nice and was relatable for me. Then, I went to him and told him to give me something very different.”
