NA resolution denounces Arshad Sharif’s killing

House demanded a fair and transparent investigation to unearth the facts behind the brutal killing

ISLAMABAD:

The National Assembly on Monday passed a unanimous resolution “strongly condemning” the killing of senior journalist Arshad Sharif in Kenya and demanded a fair and transparent investigation into the issue.

The resolution was moved by Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation Shazia Marri.

“The house strongly condemns the brutal killing of senior journalist Arshad Sharif in Kenya,” the resolution said.

The house also demanded a fair and transparent investigation to unearth the facts behind the brutal killing. It also offered condolences to the family of Sharif and the media community.

The house prayed to Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with equanimity.

The lower house also offered fateha for the soldier who was martyred at Pakistan-Afghanistan border a day earlier.

Meanwhile, the newly elected legislators of PPP Abdul Hakeem Baloch and Ali Musa Gillani took oath as member of the National Assembly.

National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf administered the oath to both the members.

Later, they signed the roll of members as required by the rules.
