RAWALPINDI:

Terrorists from inside Afghanistan opened fire on a military post in Hassan Khel area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan District, as one Pakistan Army soldier embraced martyrdom in the attack, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.

The military’s media wing identified the martyred soldier as Assistant Lance Daffadar Waqar Ali, 32, a resident of Chota Lahore.

It added that the Pakistan Army troops responded in a befitting manner.
The ISPR further said Pakistan had consistently been requesting Afghanistan to ensure effective border management. “Pakistan strongly condemns the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for activities against [its neighbouring country],” it added.

The military’s media wing added that Pakistan Army was determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of its brave soldiers further strengthened its resolve.

Separately, security forces killed one terrorist in an intelligence-based operation in Shalobar area of K-P’s Khyber district, according to another statement issued by the ISPR.

The military’s media wing added that the operation was carried out on receiving information about the presence of terrorists there.

The terrorist was killed in a fierce exchange of fire.

It said arms and ammunition had been recovered from the slain terrorist.
He was involved in terrorist activities against the security forces.

Earlier this month, two soldiers of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom when their convoy came under attack in the same area.

According to the ISPR back then, the Pakistan Army troops initiated a prompt response, effectively engaged and killed three terrorists.

“Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the terrorists,” it added.
The terrorists remained actively involved in activities against security forces, the ISPR said.

During the intense exchange of fire, according to the military, Lance Naik Muhammad Pannah of Pakistan Army (age 30 years, a resident of Jaffarabad district) and Sepoy Shamas Ullah of Frontier Constabulary (age 36 years, a resident of South Waziristan District), having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom.

On September 29, a soldier of the Pakistan Army also embraced martyrdom during a terrorist attack from inside Afghanistan across the international border, the military said.

According to the ISPR, the terrorists opened fire on Pakistani troops in the general area of Kharlachi in Kurram district of K-P.

Moreover, two soldiers embraced martyrdom in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in the General Area Esham of the North Waziristan district in the last week of September.

The ISPR said that an IED exploded, in which Naib Subedar Javed Iqbal (42), a resident of Attock, and Naik Hussain Ahmed (38), a resident of Okara, embraced martyrdom.

Aziz | 2 years ago | Reply Innalillahay wainna elahay Our jawans are being killed by Afghan Taliban and we are still hoping to mend ties with Afghans so pathetic and naive. Afghans will not listen to nice gestures from Pakistan history is witness to it. Pakistan should give an eye to an eye and destroy these Afghan terrorists bases inside Afghanistan for the security of Pakistani residents and jawans.
