KARACHI:

Sindh High Court has issued notices to Sindh Home Department and other parties on the petition against the detention of former member of the National Assembly, Kunwar Khalid.

Kunwar Khalid Younis expressed his detachment from MQM London.

Earlier, MQM London had announced in March appointing him as deputy convener of the party.

Sindh government had issued a detention notification in April.

Advocate Shaukat Hayat stated that the petitioner had appeared before police and rangers and assured that he had nothing to do with political activities. However, the authorities did not withdraw the detention notification.

Petitioner Kunwar Khalid Younis said that he is not involved in any political party's activities including Muttahida Qaumi Movement London.

He said that he is 78-year-old and suffering from many health-related disorders.

Shaukat Hayat Advocate argued that the detention order should be declared illegal. The court issued a notice to the Sindh Home Department and other parties and sought a response within four weeks.
