The ruling coalition celebrated on Friday after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced the disqualification verdict against former prime minister Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case.

According to Express News, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ziaullah Shah celebrated the verdict, which is being considered a major legal victory for the ruling coalition.

They also chanted slogans against Imran Khan and PTI. Meanwhile, PTI workers also reached the occasion and chanted slogans against ECP.

To prevent a clash between the workers of both parties, police reached on the spot. However, workers from both parties kept shouting slogans against each other.

JUI-F workers also celebrated the ECP verdict against Imran Khan.

The ECP earlier in the day disqualified PTI chief in the Toshakhana (gift depository) reference. A four-member bench declared Imran Khan’s National Assembly seat vacant as it unanimously decided that he had provided incorrect information in the case and disqualified him “for the time being”.

The verdict deseated Imran as per Article-63 (A) and ordered the initiation of criminal proceedings against him for submitting a false statement. However, the ECP shied away from declaring the deposed premier disqualified for life.

Protests erupted in all major cities across the country soon after as PTI workers and supporters took to streets to express their dismay against the verdict.
