The anti-trafficking department of Pakistan Customs Enforcement Collectorate, Karachi, has taken legal action against the accused after confiscating smuggled foreign items of different brands as part of the anti-trafficking campaign.
According to the sources, the department had received classified information that an effort is underway to smuggle foreign goods of various well-known brands in bulk.
A team was formed comprising Additional Collector Muhammad Faisal and other trained officers.
The team during the campaign stopped a suspicious truck, loaded with a 40-foot container, at the Hamdard customs checkpoint.
They asked for the customs import document which the driver could not produce. The team confiscated foreign toys, plastic bags, tyres, chocolates, and other goods. The seized goods carry a value of Rs10.2 million. A case has been registered against the accused, and commenced further legal proceedings.
