Interrogation of complainant of abduction leads to confession of murder by drowning

A man confessed to kling his six-year-old differently-abled daughter for second marriage by throwing her into a canal

The suspect had registered a case of abduction of his daughter in Chorasta Mian Khan police station. However, he confessed to the crime when the police interrogated him.

Okara District Police Officer (DPO) Furqan Bilal told The Express Tribune that the suspect, Qurban, had confessed to having drowned his disabled daughter Aisha.

He said the police had investigated the case from different angles after registering the report of kidnapping. They also interrogated the complainant after developing suspicions about his role in the incident. Qurban confessed to the murder during the interrogation.

The police found the body of the girl near Pakpattan canal on the basis of information provided by her father.

The police arrested him and shifted the body to a hospital for post-mortem.

The police official said further action would be taken in the case as per legal requirements.

Preliminary investigation of the police revealed that Qurban had divorced his wife Shazia three years ago and kept a son and the girl with him. The mother of the children had got married again after the divorce.

The suspect also wanted to marry again. In order to remove his differently-abled daughter from his home to clear the way for his second marriage, the suspect pushed her into the canal to drown and claimed that she had been kidnapped, the DPO said.

He announced cash reward and certificates for the police investigators for solving the case.
