Netflix combats password-sharing with 'Profile Transfer' feature

Profile Transfer feature will allow users to move the existing profile and its personal settings to another account

Streaming giant Netflix will now combat the issue of password-sharing with a new feature called 'Profile Transfer' which will let users migrate their profile from one account to another.

According to Variety, the Netflix feature will allow users to transfer their existing profile with content recommendations, viewing history, My List, saved games, and other personal settings, to another account.

Netflix believes this will help let users transfer their information after the end of relationships or when moving out of a household. This is a way for the streaming platform to ensure all users pay for their subscriptions.

A few months ago, Netflix launched a password-sharing crackdown in some Latin American countries where multiple logins for the same account were charged an 'Extra Members' fee of $2.99.

The new 'Profile Transfer' feature is expected to be available to everyone globally from today.
