New Gynae & Obs Unit inaugurated in JPMC

The unit has a 60-bed ward with all maternity and gynaecology facilities

KARACHI:

Sindh Health and Population Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho inaugurated a new Gynecology and Obstetrics Unit at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center (JPMC), Karachi.

Provincial Health Secretary Zulfikar Shah was also present during the opening ceremony. The unit is named after Dr Shereen Zulfiqar Bhutta, a lifelong advocate and practitioner of women's health services, and will provide free services, facilities and medical consultation to poor, pregnant and destitute women.

The unit has a 60-bed ward with all maternity and gynaecology facilities and offers counselling and medical advice. The unit will engage with different partners and patients from Sindh and other parts of the country.

The minister also stressed that family planning should be prioritised after pregnancy to give women a chance to regain their health after delivery.
