As grand as the film: ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ premiere saw gajras, glitter and graceful whites
Bilal Lashari's long-awaited star-studded magnum opus The Legend of Maula Jatt held its premiere night on Wednesday in Lahore and it is fair to say that it was as grand as the film is touted to be.
From Mahira Khan's sequinned co-ord set in a bright metallic pink to Fawad Khan twinning with his wife Sadaf Fawad Khan to Humaima Malick ditching her villainous look for an angelic white and Faris Shafi's sultry translucent fusion ensemble, each and every cast member came in their graceful real life avatars for they already outshone themselves in the magnum opus.
Apart from the Jatts and their rivals, the premiere was attended by many big names in the industry, including the likes of Meesha Shafi, Kubra Khan, Shaan Shahid, Resham, Shafqat Cheema and Mikaal Zulfiqar, among others. Here’s a lowdown of who wore what to the premiere.
Mahira Khan
A very “nervous” Mukkho Jattni walked the red carpet in a glittery Faraz Manan ensemble. With everyone dressed in subtle prints in monochrome colours, Mahira stood out, grabbing all attention towards her, in an all pink outfit — and it wasn’t just any pink. Clad in a shimmery metallic pink from head to toe, Mahira’s outfit consisted of a boat neck top paired with a mermaid skirt with a slit on its side. The cherry on top, quite literally, was a knitted jacket of the same colour worn on the shoulders. The Raees star posed in a pink pout with her hair up in a half pony, showing off her cute gold hoops.
Sadaf and Fawad Khan
Maula Jatt brought the love of his life to his grand comeback to the big screens. Keeping Sadaf close throughout the night, the duo was all smiles at the event. Staying true to his elegant personality, Fawad wore a dark green kurta with a waist coat of the same colour while Sadaf looked gorgeous in a plain satin silk black gown next to him. The designer paired her stunning black dress with dangling silver jewellery.
The Shafi siblings
It’s not a Shafi family entrance if it doesn’t bring a shovel of quirkiness with it. Meesha came to support his brother’s big screen acting debut, and like a true fan, she also wore the Maula Jatt pin on her clothes. Standing out in their chunky statement glasses throughout the night, the Shafi siblings brought all the Punjabi glam to the night. Meesha stood out in her classic colourful banarsi sari wrapped over a tank top, while Faris was clad in an all-black layered outfit with translucent sleeves and a vest over wide legged bottoms. Meesha’s holographic sandals were a hit!
Humaima Malick and Gohar Rasheed
Clad in a cream white princess gown with bronze embroidered detailing on its ends, Humaima looked regal in the long ensemble that had ruffled feathers at its end. She wore her hair down in beautiful curls on one side with her pearl earrings taking the outfit up a notch. Gohar, on the other hand, looked dapper in a black suit with printed subtle stripes of white. Completing the nerdy handsome hunk look, he wore simple black sunnies. The makers Bilal Lashari and Ammara Hikmat also dazzled in their all black outfits.
