Rs20m of case property stolen from police station
An amount of Rs20.07 million has been stolen from the store of Artillery Maidan police station. The money was the case property and it was kept at the official store of the police station four months back. The money was stolen two days ago.
According to police officials, an amount of Rs30.5 million was stolen from a jewellery shop on Dawood Pota Road in February this year. The police arrested six suspects involved in the incident and recovered the money and kept it as a case property in the police station store.
DIG Sharjeel Kharal told The Express Tribune that an investigation team has been formed to investigate the incident of theft. The team will be headed by SSP South Asad Raza. SP Investigation South Zahida Parveen and SP Saddar Ali Mardan Shah are included in the team.
The investigation team has been tasked to complete the investigation within seven days and submit the report.
He said that the investigating officer (IO) did not appear in the court with the recovered money at the case hearing on October 10. However, the next day - on October 11 - the IO said that the money was missing from the storehouse.
