Trust famous high-end brands to take inspiration from shockingly unusual styles. This time, Balenciaga has gained a spotlight thanks to its latest handy purse - a crumpled chips bag! The popular Spanish label has collaborated with the American icon Lay's to produce an accessory that mimics the shape of an empty bag of chips.

Recently, the Lay's-inspiring bag made its premiere at the Paris Fashion Week. Demna Gvasalia, creative director at Balenciaga, promoted the purse on his Instagram page. The Lay's bag was a staple accessory for the fashion show's models. Like Lay's packages, they come in a variety of bright hues.

The bag looks and feels just like your quintessential Lay's, right down to the smallest details. The chips bag's opening is even zippered. Photos showed Balenciaga's models carrying chip bags down the catwalk went viral on social media.

In an interview with Women's Wear Daily, Demna Gvasalia, Balenciaga's creative director stated, "I could not miss an opportunity to make the most expensive trash bag in the world, because who doesn't love a fashion scandal?"

In prior seasons, Balenciaga debuted a pouch that took design cues from trash can liners. The trash bag is made of a different material than regular trash cans. Balenciaga opted for soft calfskin leather rather than plastic. In all other respects, appearances are identical.

The company is well aware of the absurdity of its newest offering. Demna's Winter 2022 presentation launched the bag with the Spanish label's new textiles against a background of snow and a white stage. The garbage bag is seen being carried by a model as she walks down the icy ramp wearing the newest fashions.
