In the case of an abduction of a 28-year-old schoolteacher, investigations revealed that the woman, who had contracted a love marriage, disappeared with her husband and demanded a ransom from her own parents for her ‘release’ from the ‘kidnapper(s)’.
Police said the victim’s mother, Ayesha, registered a case at Nawan Kot police station, stating that her daughter left for school but did not return home. When she went to the school looking for her, the principal replied that she conveyed through an SMS that she was unwell and would not be joining school that day.
Fearful that her daughter had been abducted, the mother approached police, who registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, the family received a message demanding Rs500,000 from the family as ransom.
Police investigated the ransom message and when they checked the SIM details, it was registered against Ayesha’s name and the message was sent from Gujranwala. Police traced the location and recovered the victim.
During investigations, it came forth that the girl had contracted a love marriage three days ago with a man named Raheel and left for Gujranwala to stay with her husband. She had registered a sim on her CNIC that was not in knowledge of the family.
In another case of abduction, a kidnapped graduate student from Kot Lakhpat was recovered from Edhi Center. Reportedly, the victim fell unconscious in a metro bus station on her way to university.
She was moved to Lahore General Hospital for treatment. After some time, she went missing from the emergency ward. A case was registered and when police searched for the victim, she was traced to an Edhi Center.
Reportedly, the victim girl was spotted roaming around Punjab University campus pull in a semi-conscious condition.
She was almost hit by cars. When passersby questioned her, she would only recite a few verses and say
nothing on which police was alerted. Muslim Town police shifted her to the Police station and when
they failed to inquire about her address and whereabouts, she was shifted to Edhi Center.
