KARACHI:

The Judicial Magistrate Central issued notices to KMC and others on the claim of Rs110 million made by a citizen on the death of his wife and his son who fell into a drain in Shadman during rain.

Muhammad Danish, the impacted citizen, filed a Rs110 million lawsuit against KMC and others in Karachi City Court.

Usman Farooq Advocate stated that on July 17, due to the negligence of KMC, my client's wife Saman and his 3-month-old son Azlan died after falling into a drain.

KMC and DMC are directly responsible for the deaths because even after several complaints, the administration did not pay attention to the open drain and should be ordered to pay damages. Had KMC taken timely measures, the accident would not have happened.

The court issued notices to KMC and asked the authorities to respond on October 24.

Illegal portions

The Sindh High Court (SHC) issued an order on a petition regarding the construction of illegal portions in Nazimabad and ordered filing an FIR against the owner of Plot No. 8/2 Block-2D. The court has also ruled that Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) officers be prosecuted for aiding illegal constructions.

The court also ordered probe against officers who assisted the illegal construction and remarked that DGSBCA should conduct an inquiry within 15 days.
